Considering our modern tendency to get swept up in the world of digital technology, it's refreshing to see a body of photographic work that deals with the Kindle or the Ipad's predecessor: the book. Mickey Smith, an American photographer currently starting up in New Zealand, has focused her energy on photographing books, bound journals, and the like. Countless hours in libraries around the world have culminated into her numerous series like "Believe You Me" and "Collocations." Through her images, book and journal titles tell new stories...

Vincent J. Stoker is a young photographer and the winner of our contest « Photography and its Purpose ». In 2011, he will exhibit his series entitled “Heterotopia” at the Alain Gutharc Gallery, in Paris. That work on ruins is surrounded by a true graphic and intellectual coherence coming at a time when architectural photography is fashionable. What shall probably make all the difference to his artistic career is the quality of his proposal coupled with an incredible energy.

From June 11 to July 11, South Africa will welcome the 19th Football World Cup and its accompanying mass media scrum. It promises to be a curious encounter which could turn out to be astonishing and even explosive… Others are using the football event to discretely bring about support and motivation for street kids. This is what four non-governmental organizations from England, Macedonia, Brazil and Kenya are doing.
